Dear Fellow Ski Club Representatives, We hope this message finds you well and busy with organizing and running races. We would greatly appreciate you forwarding this message to other members in your clubs or to other skiers in the racing and club communities whom you think are keen to receive this message. The Silver Star Mountain Resort and Vernon Ski Club are hosting the up and coming 29th Over The Hill Down Hill (OTH) and Canadian Masters Down Hill Championships. Along with these events is a 3 day training camp open to all of the competitors to come out and receive coaching on the track to gently move your confidence level up for race day. The camp is hosted by Silver Star Ski School Directed by Norman Kreutz and he has secured the services of returning and well reknowned coaches Gord Brown, Glenn Wurtele and Grant Rutherglen. Together this team will ensure that you will safely and skillfully get your ya ya's out on the OTH course. Here is the reason we are contacting you...it appears to the current members of Vernon Ski Club that there are a lot of parents working really hard in the ski clubs across Canada to create excellent ski racing environments for their kids to achieve their goals. At the K2 Nationals last season we were lucky to meet some of you and it was a pleasure to work with you, tell some stories, and tip up a refreshment or two at the end of the day. But we think it is important to recognize that adults (parents or otherwise) also need to get on the snow and have some fun ripping it up. After all nothing is better for the family dynamic than happy adults! This event goes a long ways to rekindling or introducing the reason we all love glide on snow!! So, the Vernon Ski Club is challenging all the other clubs in Canada to come out to Silver Star in the beautiful Okanagan Valley (Vernon) with 3 guys and a gal (we can rent some gals to you if needed) or as just individuals and see if you can put up a faster time than we can. The winning club gets bragging rights and a momentous trophy to take to your home club that will surely give you reason to tell a few stories until the following year. Don't discount the value of bragging rights (men have flown to the moon for them) when you're in a social situation and need a new topic that doesn't have any thing to do with the economy, government or religion. Here is another reason to participate in this event. You can enter your kids in the event so long as they are a carded ski racer (K1 and up) and create a family team to challenge other club's family teams. Your kids will love to see you join them in wearing a speed suit and helmet and it will create some everlasting bonding moments that you will not soon forget. These moments are brought to vivid life during the momentous slide show at the awards banquet on Sunday night where great gifts, prizes, and dinner are offered to conclude the event.
