Big White Racers at Sun Peaks Festival 2006/03/27

On March 18th and 19th we had 14 kids head to Sun Peaks to participate in the 4th Annual Alcan Nancy Greene Festival. It was a great weekend for all families with just over 300 kids from across the province participating. All E1 and E2 kids split the weekend with an E1 & E2 dual race and the Husky Snow Stars skills event consisting of a speed event, distance jump, moguls and a skills course. The dual race event had E1s in a team format and E2s racing individually or as an optional team entry. Nancy Greene Raine was present the entire weekend meeting families, helping kids at the start gate, taking photos and presenting medals. Thanks to the Sun Peaks Alpine Club for putting on a very fun and well organized event. Our kids did very well (awesome) and here is a summary of our podium finishers: E2 Skills Events 1996 boys: Connor Callahan – Gold in Moguls and Speed; Silver in Skills 1996 girls: Kari McDonald – Gold in Moguls; Megan Moffat - Silver in Skills E2 Race (placing to 10th) 1996 boys: Connor Callahan, 8th. 1996 girls: Megan Moffat 6th, Kari McDonald 9th. E1 Skills Events 2000 girls: Rachel Hare – Gold in Moguls and Speed; Silver in Jump; Bronze in Skills 2000 boys: RJ Lukinuk – Gold in Skills, Silver in Moguls and Jump 1999 girls: Brooke Lukinuk – Gold in Moguls, Jump and Skills; Silver in Speed 1998 boys: Ryan Moffat – Silver in Moguls; Bronze in Speed, Jump and Skills E1 Race (Gold, silver or bronze in each Snow Star level category, 3 teams in each cat.) Level 2A Bronze - 10 kids in a combined team of Big White and Sun Peaks racers. Big White Racers were Emalie Schueler, Ilana Prokop, Rachel Hare, Barclay Desjardins and RJ Lukinuk. Level 4A Gold - 7 kids in a combined team of Big White and Dawson Creek racers. Big White Racers were Ryan Moffat, Dylan Hare, Brooke Lukinuk and Shaun Taylor.
