Our Focus

Our focus is to provide quality alpine ski racing programs that provide fun, challenge, and skill development opportunities for young skiers.

Our Aim

Our aim is to offer a program quality necessary to support skiers who have the desire to participate in the entry level (Nancy Greene Ski League), and to compete at the Kinder (K1/K2) and FIS Junior 1 level.

Nurture

While in pursuit of these objectives, we like to nurture a lifelong love of skiing, strive to make our programs accessible, and provide an environment in which all participants receive an opportunity to achieve their full potential both as an athletic alpine ski competitor and as an all around expert skier.

With a total of 50 participants in the Ladies Alpine events at the BC Winter Games, BWR Brooke Lukinuk led the way for the Thompson/Okanagan Zone team with strong performances in all three disciplines. Taking the podium for a bronze medal in Ski X she narrowly missed the podium in GS by only 5/100ths of a second finishing 4th and rounded out her games performance with a 6th in Slalom.  This gave her 3 top 10 finishes.

Presenting awards on Saturday were 2 former Big White Racer graduates, World Cup Ski X Champion Kelsey Serwa and Sarah Elliott from the Canadian Prospects Team both off their respective circuits with injuries. “Having my local ski idols there cheering us on and to present the medals was a real thrill for me” claims Brooke. “All the kids from Big White did an amazing job this weekend and should be proud”. Fellow teammate Gillian Callaghan landed a 13th in Ski X, 19th in GS and 25th in Slalom. Other Big White Racer Hannah Walline was consistent for a 17th in both Ski X and Slalom while Emily Pilon raced to a 14th in Ski X and 20th in Slalom.

Equally impressive in the boys was our own Zane Torres with 3 top 10 finishes by placing 2nd in GS, 5th in Ski X and 10th in Slalom. Marcus Athans secured two 9th places in GS and Ski X while Quinn Rasmussen held his own in the field of 55 men with a 16th in Slalom, 17th in Ski X and 28th in GS.

Congratulations to you all for representing our club and your great results.
